Infertility, Conception, Pregnancy and Children

Jayne Avery B.Ed Hons, BANT, AOR, KFRP, Dip.A.E.T

Natural Family Planning training enables me to help couples who are having difficulty conceiving.

I have developed skills to help during pre-conception, pregnancy and childhood.

My earlier experiences in teaching, when combined with my professional knowledge of six therapies, provide a unique platform for helping resolve children's health problems.

Pre-conception and Natural Family Planning

Ensuring you have a happy, comfortable pregnancy

Making sure you are as healthy and as stress free as possible before you conceive will go a long way towards ensuring you have a happy, comfortable pregnancy.

As many as one couple in six experience some difficulty conceiving.

It is vitally important for both the mother and father to be in good health nutritionally at least six months before a baby is conceived. The sperm and ovum are formed well in advance of fertilisation and need to be provided with the best nutrients possible so they can combine to produce a healthy baby.

Natural Family Planning can be used to help achieve pregnancy. It is particularly valuable for couples with fertility problems. It helps to assess:

  • The occurrence of ovulation
  • The days of maximum fertility
  • Optimise the timing of intercourse

I teach couples to recognise the changes in the woman's fertility cycle, understand ovulation and the viability of the ovum and understand that sperm are viable for a number of days in optimum conditions. They can use this information to enhance or control their fertility.

In addition I show couples how to observe, record and interpret the indicators of fertility. These are:

  • Temperature
  • Cervical Mucus
  • Cervical changes

Other secondary indicators are also used as additional fertility signs such as breast tenderness and bloating/ovulation pain.

With time and experience couples can use these indicators to determine the fertile and infertile times of the cycle. This knowledge can be used for planning or avoiding pregnancy.

This system is often helpful in highlighting problems in the cycle which would make conception more difficult.

Many cases of fertility problems can be helped with nutritional therapy. Sometimes it is as simple as changing your diet. Sometimes a hair mineral analysis may be indicated to see whether either parent is low in essential minerals needed for healthy reproduction or high in toxic metals that could be impairing the reproductive process.

Vitamin and mineral supplements

Environmental allergies and food intolerances can also affect general wellbeing, having a knock on effect on your ability to conceive. Either avoiding the offending foods, or taking homeopathic desensitisation drops, can eliminate this problem.

Homeopathic desensitisation drops

Reflexology can be very helpful when preparing for a baby. It helps you to relax and gives you time for yourself, taking away that anxious feeling when waiting for that next period not to arrive!

Reflexes on the feet correspond to the endocrine glands and parts of the body. Treatments can stimulate these, bringing hormones into balance and helping the reproductive organs to work more efficiently.

Pregnancy

Pregnant lady

Good nutrition is vitally important during pregnancy. You will need to ensure that you have plenty of reserves to feed your baby with enough left over to keep you bounding with energy and looking and feeling great.

Along with a healthy diet, some supplements specially formulated for pregnancy can help tone your uterus making the birth process easier and give your baby the best possible start in life.

Reflexology can relax the body and balance the hormones. It is a safe and enjoyable way of looking after yourself and your baby while you are waiting to meet each other.

Childhood

I have successfully helped children overcome many problems ranging from bedwetting and colic to ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and low self esteem, using a holistic approach with a combination of my therapies.

0 - 5 years

Colic in breast fed babies can be caused by food the mother is eating. I have had success in testing the baby using the mother as a surrogate. If the mother stops eating the offending food the colic more often than not disappears. It is usually advisable for mother and baby to have desensitisation drops before the baby is weaned.

Client feedback:

Four month old daughter and two year old son

My four month old daughter suffered reflux as a baby She also had several patches of weeping eczema, bouts of colicky crying where she was in extreme pain, and an unexplained green discharge from her ear which had not responded to several doses of antibiotics. Before weaning her I decided to seek help from Jayne as I felt there must be some reason for the above symptoms. Finding out my daughter was dairy intolerant we changed her onto goat's milk and within 24 hours her eczema and ear had started to improve significantly.

My two year old son had a weepy eye due to a blocked tear duct. The medical profession wanted to operate but I did not want my baby going through surgery. My cousin suggested reflexology and a nutritional therapist which is when we contacted Jayne. After several treatments of reflexology, allergy testing and homeopathic desensitisation drops my son's eye completely cleared up avoiding the need for surgery.

6 - 16yrs

I was a teacher for 25 years, in both the primary and secondary sectors. Much of that time I specialised in children with learning and behavioural problems. I have the British Dyslexia Association's Diploma.

Since becoming a natural therapist I have been able to help many children using my various therapies.

For example:

Holistic help for ADHD

ADHD and related problems can have varying causes, and I use a range of techniques to assess each individual's particular circumstances and target help where it will be most effective.

  • Food and environmental sensitivity testing with homeopathic desensitisation
  • Hair analysis for toxic metals and mineral deficiency
  • Screening for retained or inhibited developmental reflexes
  • Brain Gym Kinesiology to help with integration of the right and left brain hemispheres
  • Reflexology to calm and help stimulate the body's own healing mechanism
